With costume contests, parades, spooky sand sculptures, and 5 whole streets that turn an entire neighborhood into a haunted village with decorations galore and a GIANT block party... I think it's safe to say Halloween is an exciting time of year here on the island!

This year a new tradition has started; A scarecrow contest!  Businesses and the community at large have participated as scarecrows have popped up all over town.

Sunflower Beach joined in the fun!  Meet Bo and Sunshine – The Sunflower Beach Scarecrow kids!

Local scarecrows have also been spotted! Island mail carrier Shannon Solomine created the "Lighthouse Creeper," and Deborah Waitman Neasbitt created "Beach Crow!"

Have we inspired you to create your own scarecrow? Share your scarecrow on our Facebook page with the hashtag #PortAransasScarecrowContest. We can’t wait to see them!

Happy Halloween!
