An effective protection as well. Affordable and a very fast delivery comes standard.

The fabric shutters has to be installed every time a hurricane approaches. Unscrew the screws, put the fabrics on and tighten the screws again. We‘ll include a fabric bag made to order for your fabric shutters for storing the fabrics in the attic or the garage. As long as they are installed, they will keep a good portion of the light out, too.

Available only in white, brown and black.

PANELS

The old fashioned way to get an effective protection. Very affordable and delivered fast.

We have to drill holes in your walls to fasten the panels. You would have to unscrew and screw the screws in again to install the panels at least one day before each hurricane. One of the biggest problem is that screws are to tight fastened, they will destroy the thread and you would have to drill new holes then.

You have to store the heavy panels in the garage where they will take some space.

To install the panels we recommend that you use gloves because the panels are very sharp and heavy.

Panels do not let any light into your house. People often say (and you can see that while driving around the city) that they will leave the most of the panels installed during the whole hurricane season. I guess it will be very dark in their living rooms then… The exemption of that are of course the clear panels.

Normally, panels are Florida Building Code approved.

Panels are only available in uncolored metal.

PLYWOOD

No need to explain that…

If you have to protect your home in the last few hours before a hurricane arrives it may be better than nothing, but to plan in advance to put on some plywood is the same as if you would say “I do not buckle up, I’ll do it right before the accident happens”.

The installation is quite easy but time consuming because you have to get a helping hand who holds the heavy plywood while you are driving screws into your wood and walls.

Flying debris like grills and palm trees will not be stopped intruding your house and the strong winds will do the rest to blow into holes in the wood caused from a grill. Your roof will be gone in seconds.

You will need a good bank account and much time to explain that to your insurance company…

ACCORDION SHUTTERS

Accordion shutters do have a long tradition in Florida. Actually, you could say that accordions are movable panels.

They do protect against hurricanes like panels but because of the moving element they cost a lot more than panels alone.

If a hurricane is approaching, there is no need to install anything, no need to ask your neighbor for help, just close the shutter system from the one end of your opening to the other.

But the stack of panels is big, according to your order the stack will be on the left side, on the right side or on both sides of your window. The lack of light and darker rooms are the result of that.

BAHAMIAN SHUTTERS

Bahamien shutters do also have a long tradition in Florida, but in the last few years they have almost gone.

The bahamian shutters are always almost closed in front of your openings, that makes your hou se really dark inside.

Most Bahamian shutters are made of wood, which gives us the same problem like with the plywood. There are some available made from fiberglass.

If an approaching hurricane is near, just close this type of shutters from the outside to protect you and your belongings. Normally there is no problem with that (except a few bees and wasps, they stitched me once while operating the shutter).
